Fed Lowers Again; Fed Funds Target is Now 3.50% to 3.75% "The Federal Reserve under Fed Chairman Jerome Powell has lowered interest rates by 25 basis points for the third time since September. The Fed funds rate following the December meeting now stands at a target of 3.50% to 3.75%.
There were three dissents to today's quarter point cut. Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee and Kansas City Fed President Jeff Schmid did not want the Fed to cut. Steven Miran also dissented, wanting a 50 basis point cut.
