The Caravan – Tragic but Brilliant

While the Republicans make noises about deep-pocket Democrats seeding dissent and organizing protests in Central America, imagine for a moment what is really happening. And what is happening is very simply one of the most well planned and Machiavellian moves Republicans have made in years.

The huge human caravan of thousand and thousands of poor, desperate men, women and children walking, at this very moment, through Honduras and Guatemala and now into Mexico on their way to the American border are the result of contorted and evil planning by brilliant, behind-the-scene Republican donors and operatives. There are seven thousand such migrants, human beings, families, fleeing violence and worse, who are being used as political pawns to change the expected outcome of the American mid-term elections on November 6. Indeed, if this tragic group of men, women and children arrive at the American border (and it will be just before or on the American election day), they will serve to enrage the conservative Republican electorate and kill the Democrats’ chance of taking control of one house of Congress, and thus of providing checks and balances against continuing one-party rule by the Republican elite in America.

Even worse than throwing the election in favor an unchecked Trumpian rule for another two years, at least, is the use of hugely desperate and vulnerable human beings to win political advantage. The unimaginable suffering of these migrants at the American border (likely to include separation of young children - even infants - from their mothers) for political gain is a human rights violation and an affront to everything America holds dear.

But, this is what will happen on November 6, and there is no way to stop it at this point.
