I am not sure who stocks this site with all of the positive Synchrony reviews. Their customer service is very friendly, but the website is not and the delays you will experience moving money in and out make it inferior to the other big names on the table.

I opened a 13 month CD with these guys. Made the mistake of going all in with $1/4 mil and needed to end the whole thing due to my wife's cancer recurring. They hit me with a full six month penalty on the whole thing so I ended up losing $2,500 on the entire transaction. Special thanks to Synchrony for their understanding. Never banking with them again.

Very disappointed with this bank's silliness and schenanigans. They withdrew money from linked account, then told me they won't work with the linked account. Since I am not opening a third account, I told them to close the account and put the money back.

I have been a customer for a long time and just got notified I am now a diamond member of Perks. Never found any value as a platinum member. Has anyone ever found any benefits to this?

yes, you can do wires for free and no limit to the atm reimbursements. There are other perks as well.

I just opened my account here when they raised the rate to 1.30%. Have also had positive experiences with Ally, but otherwise I have found online banking difficult. Some of this relates to the fact that I am a senior, but I am certain that many of these banks do not have a funding process which is intuitive. Very happy with Synchrony and Ally.

I found the credit card folks inflexible until Harvey, but really appreciated their reaching out to me and their understanding. As for savings and CDs Synchrony is far and away the best on this list for savings and CDs. I have been with them since it was GE Capital Retail Bank and will stay with them. Thank you from Houston!

I am very happy to be a Synchrony bank customer. Synchcony bank is thus far the best I have ever done business with. I beleive they are not all about the almighty dollar they actually care about people & all of there customers. I am very thankfull they gave me a chance to prove I pay my bills early before due date. I am also thankfull that I was able to save my pets life. My chiauhau (Max) If it had not been for care credit I would have had to put him down as he was sickly suffering. Now he has done a 360 turnaround. Max (dog) thanks synchrony bank to. Synchrony bank customer from Albany, New York " I rate them more than 5 star!!!"

A $5 fee if my balance goes below $30? I'll take my business elsewhere.

What business? If it's $30, then you have no business

If you are speaking about a savings account, there is no charge to have zero in your account.

I have nothing but good experience with Synchrony dating back a couple of years to when it was founded. I am giving it five stars. But, there is one thing that drives me crazy and that is the way that the hold my money on outbound transfers. I needed to raise money in my Wells account, and arranged Sunday night to transfer a bit from my account with CIT, a bit from my account with Ally, a bit from my account with Sallie, and a bit from Synchrony. The money from CIT and from Ally was there by Monday night.
The money from Sallie came in on Tuesday morning which made me angry. It is Wednesday night and there is no sign of the money from Synchrony. While this is probably completely legal, it isn't market and it is annoying as hell to the customer (me). It is a good bank, but caveat emptor with these outbound transfers. -
I was lucky to jump into a 5 year cd with them about 3 years ago at 2.30% so I still have 2 years left on that. Am full up on Synchrony as a result. If I were new to the game I would be putting everything into the 1 year cd at 1.25% now and hoping to jump into a longer term rate much higher when that comes due in a year. Just my 2 cents.

Transfers take far too long. You really need to plan ahead if you think you're going to need to move any money. Any transactions you want on a certain day/date have to be made on that day. I do enjoy speaking to agents I can understand and understand me. We have been with them for years as they are very user friendly and have good rates. We recommend them to family and friends.

Couldn't agree more. The transfer times require planning ahead, but everything else is fine.

I have a IRA there, it took almost a month to get it there, and almost a month to take a distribution, so they sat on my money going and coming I figure for at least 50 days, they are not so nice when it comes to getting your money to you..my money is already there, so I'm using other banks to draw from, brick banks you walk in and tell them what you want and in a half hour your walking out counting your money

I really find these online banks to be pretty much the same, and among the well known ones this one constantly has the best rates on savings and CDs. I am not sure how you can go wrong.
