It took 7 days to perform an ACH transfer. Even worse than Synchrony and Interactive Brokers which are both known con jobs. Closed account. Done.

The single worst banking experience of my life. Less than a month after my first deposit, this bank froze my account and completely removed it from my online view. I cannot access the money whatsoever. They will not let me withdraw it. They will not let me close the account. For 4 days now I have had no access to the account and after hours and hours on the phone, not one person can even explain to me why they have restricted the account or what can be done to unfreeze it. I've been promised call backs that never came. I've had to file a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. I've never seen anything like this. This bank needs to be shut down.

I have the same situation.
How did your situation got resolveed? -
Ok, I read A LOT of reviews on Sterling (Brio) that made me wary of it, but with one of the highest interest rates out there I tried it to see how bad it really was.
CONS 1st
1) I started with an initial deposit of $25 which did take over a week to process. WORK AROUND: I use Ally as my other high-interest yield bank. I have been doing all deposits in and withdrawals out from the Ally website and the processing days are 1-3 days until it shows up either in my Brio or Ally account. ALWAYS use the external bank to do the transfer/withdrawal
2) Nowhere does Brio give you your account number when you sign up/ nor is it on the statements. I had to call to get my account number, if you don't write it down you'll have to call again. Write it down!
3) The interest rate has been dropping. Currently, it is 2.0%. There is not much control over this is the Fed cuts rates, but 2.0% is still an industry leader right now.
All in all, it's working for me. I got a great interest credit last month. The biggest thing I recommend if you do use Brio is do EVERYTHING through your external bank that you link with Brio. It has its flaws sure but for me, it's easy enough for 2% interest.

easy application process, at least as easy as other online high yield banks. I did not have to provide more documentation than other banks.
Initial deposit did take a week to clear, but after setting up transfers with another bank, subsequent transfers were quick and easy.
And the very best yields for the past 12 months. -
Screw Sterling bank! These fuckers ripped off all of the taxi drivers in New York and Chicago together with Michael Cohen and a bunch of Russian criminals and now they want us to fund their continued criminal conspiracies while the taxpayers are on the hook for bailing out the people they screwed.
-
Completed on line application, opened account. To transfer funds into account now wanted a scan of my wife's driver's license. A second transfer now wanted a scan of my drivers license and a scan I'd the bank statement. When I refused they shut on line access to my account.
Will be filing complaint with New York State .

This bank makes customers jump through too many hoops. To simply add a beneficiary a notarized document must be submitted. Even after trial deposits have been verified for an external bank, they wanted a copy of the latest statement from that bank and a copy of your drivers license! If you open an account with this bank be prepared to go through a lot of hassles!

Let's clarify how this works. You initiate an ACH transfer and schedule it for a Friday. These [redacted] pull the money on Monday. They are making interest from that day. On Friday these [redacted] send you an email saying there has been a delay and the following Tuesday they send one saying the money is there. This is a scam. It is just like what they did to these poor NYC taxi drivers. This isn't a bank. It is a bunch of Trump-like [redacted]!

JP, This is not my experience. It does take 3 days for the transfer to occur and I have received notice of delays, but once the money is there it is credited from the day it was originally scheduled to be "received".

I bank at VIO bank and when I transfer funds on a Thursday they are in my checking account the next day. No delays no BS. I just closed an account with Synchrony bank because it took 4 business days to transfer funds and that is poor service, nothing more. Looking for another bank and it clearly won’t be this one.
-
I see lots of bad reviews here. I opened an account last most and am not so critical. I do not like the long delay between them pulling the money and crediting my account. This is worse than all other online accounts I have had but only slightly worse than Synhrony which now pays 2%. no other big problems. They have my moeny now and are giving me more than Synhrony.
Candace | Oct 13, 2019
I just went to VIO and couldn’t be happier. I put in a transfer and get it the next day. I too had Synchrony and they were terrible at transferring and crediting funds. Won’t be using BRIO either; thanks for the heads up!

Sterling National Bank is a thug of a New York bank that was involved in engineering this entire Michael Cohen taxi medallion scheme that has left every taxi driver in NYC penniless. You are free to give them your money, but I am just saying. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/19/nyregion/michael-cohen-loans-donald-trump.html
