Synchrony Bank Reviews (84)

When it comes to speed of transfers, these guys are the worst. You keep a savings account because you need access to money and now you need it and Synchrony is sitting on it. Stick with Ally.

Everybody has access to the same ACH system. They can run the outbound transfers directly or they can sit on your money for a few days and make interest on the float. It may not be illegal, but it is poor business to do the latter. Synchrony does the latter and therefore I am moving my business elsewhere.

I just spent over two hours trying to access my account! Like Jennifer c., I had to set up a new password because the site was updating. They told me to log out then back in again and it would update? Wrong, it asked me to start all over! After wasting two hours of my life, I called and closed my account! Synchrony stinks!

Synchrony is the absolute worst. Today they refused to let me login until I had given them my social security number and date of birth (things I shouldn't need to give out online to confirm my identify when I have been a customer for years). Then, I got a message saying that they were upgrading so I needed to create a new password. Then, what seemed like 10 minutes to figure out their new and still stupider password rules. And, then when I finally got it done, there was no sign of my $250,000 in my account there, rather I was treated as a new customer setting up for the first time. I hope it isn't lost! Couldn't login again and couldn't get through on the phone. This bank still has GE's stamp all over it, and that is the stamp of defective and deficient crap. Avoid, avoid and avoid!

Your bank was awful, nasty and incompetent on the phone. I have never experienced this level of unpleasant behavior in the US. Customers expect and demand to be treated differently. I am withdrawing my $250,000 and moving somewhere where it and I are treated respectfully.

There account opening process was very fast and I was impressed by how helpful the rep was. I did try to change my password and that was a freak show. It shouldn't be that hard! What's the point of security if you can't get into your account because you forget it??

I was surprised in reading this letter I received from Synchrony Bank, in Orlando. I had dental work done, about three years ago. "Our records indicate that your CARECREDIT/SYNCHRONY BANK account has been inactive for more then three years." Yes, I made a point of paying the bill off! Ok, it's been three years. I know, I believed I was being smart, keeping this CareCredit Credit Card for dental emergencies...being low-income. I have VERY good credit score, pay ALL my bills on time or early. I was appalled, yet laughed, in reading "We have closed your account due to prolonged inactivity".
I guess I insulted them, even though I was proud at not having to use them. It seems they are insulted, decided they didn't want to work with me since they were not collecting any money from me at this time. I know I will need it, teeth are showing wear, but I guess I will deal with that issue when it comes...may NOT be Synchrony Bank now. THEY lost out! I'll go elsewhere!. -
I puchased a DR Trimmer and was issued credit without my knowledge through Syncrony. My payment is $100/mo. 0% interest for three years.
I pay a minimum of $250/mo. six payments in I receive my monthly invoice with a $45 late fee. When I called I was told that the late fee was "valid" because I paid on the 2nd and it was not due until the 20th. So late really means early. There is no early payment penalty per the contract. After threatening to go to the AG about their practices, the agent agreed to reverse the payment "this one time only" as long as I did not pay before the 3rd of every month. the following month I paid on the 5th and you guessed it ANOTHER late fee. During that call, I was told not to pay before the 10th. Their either stupid or scam artists. Either way, I'm paying in full this month... -
I use a third party provider to monitor my credit and balances on my account. Synchrony is the only bank that does not allow this provider access to my account. When I contacted their customer service, this is the response I received: "At this time, we do not provide access to Synchrony Bank account(s) via these third-party tools. Please know that protecting any personal information provided to us is one of our primary objectives, and we continue to work closely with these third-party service providers to ensure they meet data security standards and are fully compliant with regulatory requirements before enabling these sites to access your account details."
I have accounts with four of the top ten largest market share credit card issuers. They sync fine with my credit monitor company. Synchrony is a farce if they think that their standards are any higher than the other companies that hold 98.7% of the market share.
And when presented with my issue, their customer service instructed me to send a fax or a letter. They refused to direct a manager speak to me. Lowes should sever all business ties with this company.
Avoid Synchrony
