I call HSBC they told me they don't have 1.85 1 year CD. current CD is 0.8 / year

Their promotional rate is just for a limited time and afterward their rate go down to close to 0.1% or so. For a consistently higher rate, look for more decent bank like CapitalOne360 or Discover.

I opened an account here 2 weeks ago and then walked by a branch and saw that they are paying more there. I assumed the rate for online accounts had increased to the same, but it did not.
