Cross River Bank Reviews (22)

ACH transfers are not allowed. Called and was told that I had to set up wire transfers (and pay fees) or I could come in to the bank and get a bank check.

I just deposited into their 1 yr. CD 2.28 (which is correct as of 4.27.20) and had relatively minor issues with the application. If you provide your callback no. a person will get back to you and explain then send you on your way. I had relatively few problems though a solid deposit. Now the issue is their strength going forward in a tough economic future. Always check rates with home site before applying with any bank. So far so good with Brix

I tried for 3 days to open an account.
I called the help center it took at least a day to get a retutn call.
The first two calls were not informative.
I got a call on Sunday and my question was answered.
Brix direct cannot take an ach from Fidelity invt, one of the largest money managers on the planet. They should make that clear in their instructions.

Update: Received "Day 1" and "Day 2" emails from Brix/CR (a little strange) - now some undesirable elements are laid bare. Seems, at the present anyway, one would need to print a beneficiary form (paper!), complete it (ink!) and mail it in (USPS!) Same for linking an external bank for ACH transfers - one might imagine such a link would exist for the required funding bank, seems it does not. Sincerely hope the absurdity of this will come to light and elicit some changes. For now taking the good with the bad.

They just went live with BrixDirect this month and had some issues early on. I just used their website and opened and funded a new 12 mo. CD in a matter of minutes. Once opened, it took only a few minutes to add a joint owner. So far, the best of the online banks I have experienced.

Wow! 50k minimum! It was way less than that when I first found out about Brixdirect, so I tried a 5k CD. It got approved and funded with minor problems. I say minor because I got worried for awhile since I thought I wasn't receiving any email from them especially the confirmation email after I signed up. This is my first venture in CDs. I didn't know what to expect, so I was a bit of a worry wart. Well they did send me emails but all their emails went to my junk mail. Also a representative called me back after I called them about my worries and another representative called me back the following day. Overall, it was a successful venture. I now owned a 5k Brixdirect CD. I guess they changed the minimum after I signed up! :)

I was concerned after reading JFD's review. However, I had a much better experience. Got a voice message and was able to leave my phone number and a very helpful rep called me back in approx 10-15 minutes - she was very pleasant and answered all my questions. Hopefully I won't have any problems with the CD!

I e-mailed them yesterday to see if I could send my monthly CD interest to my external funding bank and today I received a reply that, yes, I could. I would say that JFD is correct that it just started but they are supposed to be a division of Cross River Bank and your account is FDIC insured. They are, though, still in the process of getting the bugs out of their website software. Pretty good interest rate.
