General

Everbank is a Jacksonville, Florida-based bank with an extensive presence online.

Advantages

  • The bank offers moderately competitive online savings and CD products, and has access to a large ATM network nationwide.  The bank also offers other products that should be avoided.

Disadvantages

  • Prior to and around the time of the financial crisis, Everbank offered foreign currency CD products, including products that were as esoteric as Iceland Krona CDs. These products were sold without meeting regulatory requirements and EverBank's brand was heavily damaged.
  • After its acquisition by TIAA, the online bank was rebranded. Once it was discovered that TIAA is a contaminated brand, the bank was rebranded as EverBank.
  • Customer service has always been considered very poor and there remains a large pool of depositors who were duped into their products years ago.

    Online Savings Rates

A non-customer-friendly organization that just switches between two contaminated brands trying to bring back some sort of goodwill that it had before it started selling fake foreign currency CDs in 2006 and 2007.
