General

Jenius Bank opened in 2023 as a division of Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui.  In the US, it only offers an online savings account with no fees or minimum balances.  Its rate is very competitive.

Advantages

  • Jenius Bank's online savings rate remains competitive with no minimum balance requirement.

Disadvantages

  • Jenius Bank's customer service is very poor with limited availability and no mobile app.
  • Jenius will not open accounts for residents of Hawaii and New Mexico.
  • Sumitomo Mitsui, Jenius Bank's parent, is among the world's largest lenders to climate damaging industries and refuses to meet any carbon reduction goals.

Savings Fees

Fee Type
Non Sufficient Funds $0.00
Maintenance $0.00
Out-of-network ATM $0.00
Excessive Transaction $0.00
Incoming Wires $0.00

Jenius Bank, a division of Sumitomo Mitsui Bank Reviews

    Online Savings Rates

Multiple roadblocks trying to set up a savings account with Jenius Bank and my application was ultimately declined, in spite of my multiple CDs among three banks, stock investments, eleven credit cards, and credits scores that have never been outside the 800s. I took my business elsewhere.
