Barack Obama will ultimately go down in history as a failed President, not because of Obamacare (the “Affordable Care Act”) or the billions that were spent on Canadian developers for a website that we here in the US could have built for $20,000, but for his consistent failure to stand up to Russia and Putin. It was this failure that precipitated the Russian attack on our elections, on our democracy and ultimately on our way of life.
Who can forget his red line in the sand on Syria’s use of chemical weapons? And, who can forget after Syria’s Bashar al-Assad used sarin gas on his people in 2013, Obama announced that the US would be exacting a penalty consistent with the Geneva Convention? Days later, Obama announced that he wanted such US military action to be predicated on a Congressional resolution, knowing full well that the Republican congress which had consistently opposed him on every action would refuse to authorize such action.
Putin, of course, has been an ally of Syria’s Assad. An evil dictator with a long memory. Putin has tremendous resources necessary to undermine his enemies. He was much angered by Hillary Clinton’s opposition to – and ultimately sanctioning of – his annexation of Crimea the previous year..
Hence, when Obama came to him in September 2016 to complain that the Russians were tampering with our elections, Putin’s own experiences led him to believe correctly that he had a green light to exploit those resources, to undermine the US system, to take control of our country’s policy through a straw man (Donald Trump), and to throw the US into 4 years of ineptitude and chaos.
