Absolutely terrible article. Buying a home is almost always your better option. For most people, it is not only their largest single asset, but also their financial foundation for the rest of their lives and for their retirement. This holds true in this housing environment in you take a long term view. This would strike me as especially true for a 49-year old single mother of two. By the way, so-called "fee only" financial advisors are con artists and are ordinarily wrong about everything.

I agree with Ted Hemmels. I am amazed at the numbers of people who I know in New York City who have recently sold out of the market. I say the home market goes flat for the next 5 years nationally. And, even if real estate is ahead of itself, a home is a great way for most people to build and conserve wealth, and always better than renting.
